Choosing your SSD

When picking an SSD, there is more to consider than just the size. Size does matter, of course, but you also need to ensure the interface will work with your motherboard, the form factor, and your read/write speeds. Specifications like the size and read/write speeds are especially important if you plan on using this PC for tasks like video editing.

Luckily, you can use this SSD Tier List that has over 600 models to compare and see which is best for your build.

You can use this spreadsheet to filter by interface, form factor, brands, and more. An important field, is the Categories column. This field gives each SSD a tier ranking.

For example, there is an "Entry-Level NVMe" category with SSDs that PCIe 3.0 and 4.0, with low read/write speeds, as opposed to the "High-End NVMe" category with PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 options with higher read/write speeds.
